Where to begin?

Lunar meteorite NWA 13951 ‘Starry Night’

The range of meteorites available to purchase is probably greater than it’s ever been, with new discoveries of historic ‘falls’, particularly in the deserts of North West Africa, and even lunar meteorites falling (pun entirely intentional!) in price to an affordable level.

Perhaps the easiest starting point for a journey into meteorite collecting, or as a one-off purchase of material from elsewhere in our Solar System, is a small sample of one of the well-known iron meteorites - Campo del Cielo and Sikhote Alin are both famous and available in small sizes - or an ordinary chondrite like NWA 869.

As a specimen or display piece, Campo del Cielo is probably the most impressive meteorite available in good sized chunks between 500-1000g
